Position – Homelessness Reviews Officer
Organisation – Local authority in London
Hourly rate - £35 per hour
Contract - 3–6 Month (strong possibility of extension)

(Hybrid) – 1 day in the office

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct statutory s.202 homelessness reviews under the Housing Act 1996.
• Review decisions on duty owed, suitability, priority need, intentionality, and local connection.
• Apply the Homelessness Code of Guidance, Review Regulations, and relevant case law.
• Draft clear, legally defensible review decision letters within statutory timescales.
• Work with Housing Options & Support teams, Legal Services, and partner agencies.
• Monitor compliance and contribute to service improvements.

Person specification:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in homelessness/housing services.
• Demonstrable experience conducting s.202 reviews.
• Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 1996, HRA 2017, and relevant case law.
• Experience working within a London local authority.
• Ability to conduct detailed and thorough investigations.
• Excellent letter and report writing skills.
• The ability to build affective collaborative working relationships across internal Services.
• Inquisitive mind and ability to think on their feet.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to work to deadlines.

An opportunity has arisen for a Voids Management Lead to support the delivery of void property management within a housing service. This role will focus on ensuring vacant properties are inspected, repaired and returned to use efficiently, supporting housing availability and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the voids process from property vacation through inspection, repair and re-let.
• Arrange and review property inspections and prepare specifications for required works.
• Oversee contractors delivering void repairs, ensuring works are completed to agreed standards, cost and timescales.
• Monitor void turnaround performance and address delays or operational issues.
• Liaise with housing, allocations, repairs and asset teams to coordinate property readiness.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety, statutory requirements and internal procedures.
• Maintain accurate records on housing management and asset systems.
• Support performance reporting and service improvement activity.

Skills and Experience

• Experience managing voids within a local authority or housing provider.
• Knowledge of housing repairs, void standards and property inspections.
• Experience managing contractors and monitoring performance.
• Understanding of housing management processes and compliance requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple properties and meet service timescales.
• Experience using housing management or asset systems.
