STEM Graduate - Academic Mentor - The Role

  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths Graduate roles
  • Teaching Assistant, Academic Mentor, Intervention Tutor and Instructor roles
  • Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups
  • Maximising the learning potential of students aged 11-16
  • Bridging learning gaps to ensure students have not fallen behind during lockdown
  • Initial one-year placements running until July 2022

STEM Graduate - Academic Mentor - Job Specification

  • First-Class or 2:1 classification in a STEM related degree subject (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths)
  • Excellent A-Levels and GCSE grades
  • The confidence to deliver lesson content to 11-16 year olds
  • The desire to qualify as a teacher in the future
  • The dedication to get fully immersed within school-life (lunchtime clubs, after school clubs, school trips)


Academic Mentor roles perfectly suit aspiring Teachers who want to gain classroom experience prior to applying for Teacher Training. They also are ideal for individuals who want to to ensure that current Secondary School students are not negatively effected from missing time out of school during the pandemic. 

Interviews and selection days are taking place throughout June and July with schools keen to add capacity to key departments across their schools for September.
