SEND Teaching Assistant | Waltham Forest | September 2026 Start
Do you have a passion for supporting young people with additional needs and want to gain valuable experience within a secondary school setting? A highly inclusive secondary school in Waltham Forest is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to join from September 2026 on a full-time basis until July 2027.
This school has established a strong reputation for its commitment to inclusion, ensuring every student receives the support required to achieve both academically and personally. The SEND department works closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external agencies to provide tailored support for pupils with Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language needs and a range of learning difficulties. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping students access learning and develop confidence within the classroom.
SEND Teaching Assistant – What the School Offers

The Role
You will support students with SEND across KS3 and KS4, both within mainstream lessons and through targeted interventions. Responsibilities include delivering 1:1 and small-group support, implementing strategies recommended by external professionals and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
The Ideal Candidate
• Holds a 2:1 degree or above from a leading UK university
• Has previous child-centred experience through tutoring, mentoring, coaching or care-based roles
• Demonstrates patience, resilience and strong communication skills
• Has a genuine interest in SEND and supporting young people
