Cover Supervisor | Lewisham

Are you a graduate or experienced education professional looking to gain valuable experience in a secondary school? This Cover Supervisor role in Lewisham offers the opportunity to work across different year groups and subjects, supporting pupils with their learning while developing your classroom management and behaviour management skills.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee lessons when the usual teacher is unavailable, ensuring pupils remain focused, follow the work provided and maintain the school's expectations for behaviour. You will work across KS3 and KS4, giving you broad experience of secondary education and the opportunity to work alongside experienced teaching staff.

Full Academic Year | £100-140 a day depending on experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supervising classes in the absence of their usual teacher.
• Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and ensuring pupils understand their tasks.
• Maintaining a calm, focused and purposeful classroom environment.
• Managing behaviour in line with the school's policies and expectations.
• Supporting pupils with their work and encouraging independent learning.
• Registering pupils and communicating any concerns to the relevant staff.
• Providing feedback to teachers regarding pupil engagement, behaviour and completed work.

The successful Cover Supervisor will:

• Hold a degree or equivalent qualification, ideally with strong academic results.
• Have experience working with children or young people, either professionally or through relevant voluntary experience.
• Be confident managing groups of secondary-age pupils.
• Have excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Be calm, consistent and confident when dealing with challenging behaviour.
• Have an interest in progressing within education, particularly towards Teacher Training.
