A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Chelmsford is seeking a dedicated SEND Pupil Support professional to join its team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or SEND practitioner who is passionate about making a meaningful difference to children’s educational and personal development.

The Role - As a SEND Pupil Support, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND
- Support children with their academic, social and emotional development
- Assist pupils in accessing the wider curriculum and overcoming barriers to learning
- Work alongside class teachers and the SEND team to implement individual support strategies
- Help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours
- Support children who may have additional needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties or social and emotional needs
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Previous experience working with children with SEND is highly desirable — experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEND Support Worker, Youth Worker or similar would be advantageous.
The Ideal SEND Pupil Support - The school is seeking someone who is:
- Educated to a 2:1 or First-Class degree in a relevant subject, such as Psychology, Education, Childhood Studies, Special Educational Needs or a related discipline
- Experienced in supporting children with SEND in an educational or similar setting
- Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning
- Patient, empathetic and able to build strong relationships with pupils
- Confident providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Adaptable and able to respond positively to different needs and situations
- Resilient, calm and consistent in their approach
- A strong communicator who works well as part of a wider school team
- Committed to creating an inclusive environment where every child can thrive
