Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School – Braintree – ASAP Start

A welcoming secondary school in Braintree is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team on a temporary basis, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced LSA or someone with a strong background working with young people to make a genuine difference to pupils' learning, confidence and progress.

The school is committed to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every pupil is given the opportunity to succeed. The successful LSA will work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team to provide tailored support to pupils who may require additional help with their learning, behaviour or engagement.

The Role – As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to secondary-aged pupils
  • Support pupils with their learning across a range of subjects
  • Help pupils overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence
  • Work closely with class teachers to adapt activities and resources where required
  • Support pupils who may have additional learning or behavioural needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence and engagement in lessons
  • Assist pupils with developing their organisational and study skills
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams
  • Monitor pupils' progress and provide feedback to relevant staff

  • Have previous experience working with children or young people in an educational setting
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting pupils to achieve their potential
  • Be patient, resilient and confident when working with challenging situations
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be confident supporting pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis
  • Be able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Have a nurturing approach alongside high expectations
  • Be proactive, adaptable and willing to support across the school
  • Be legally entitled to work in the UK – visa sponsorship is not available
