Location: Tower Hamlets
Contract: September 2026 – July 2027 (Full Academic Year)
Hours: 8:30am–4:15pm, with a 45-minute lunch break
Pay: £152.92 per day, including holiday pay

An Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ secondary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant to join its Mathematics department from September 2026.
The school has some of the strongest attendance and behaviour figures in Tower Hamlets, with students regularly progressing to Oxbridge and Russell Group universities. The school is also ranked 3rd nationally for outcomes among disadvantaged students and is among the Top 25 schools in the country for GCSE results. Around 60% of students are eligible for Pupil Premium.
As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be predominantly supporting KS5 students, with some support across KS4. You will use your strong subject knowledge to provide academic support, deliver targeted interventions and mentor students working towards their GCSE and A-level Maths qualifications.
Key responsibilities:
- Providing in-class support predominantly across KS5 Maths, with some KS4 support
- Supporting students working towards Edexcel A-level Maths
- Delivering 1:1 and small-group Maths tuition and academic mentoring
- Providing targeted interventions based on individual student needs
- Using your strong subject knowledge to help students develop their understanding of Mathematics
- Supporting students preparing for GCSE and A-level examinations
We’re looking for:
- A 2:1 or First-Class degree in Mathematics or a related subject
- Studied Maths and/or Further Maths at A-Level with good results
- Up-to-date knowledge of the Edexcel A-level Maths curriculum – essential
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to confidently support students at KS5
- A genuine interest in education and helping students achieve their academic potential
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
- Commitment to the full academic year from September 2026 to July 2027
Important: Candidates must have current knowledge of the Edexcel A-level Maths curriculum. As part of the interview process, candidates will be required to complete an A-level Maths subject knowledge test.
