Psychology Graduate (Autism Teaching Assistant)

Are you a Psychology Graduate looking to gain valuable experience supporting young people with Autism?

Secure a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant role at a specialist school, where you will help students develop confidence, independence, emotional wellbeing and essential life skills.

Based at a specialist provision in Mitcham for autistic students aged 9–16, you will work within a nurturing, structured and neurodiversity-affirming environment. With small class sizes, a high adult-to-student ratio and access to on-site therapeutic professionals, you will receive excellent support, training and development throughout your role.

Working alongside experienced teachers, teaching assistants and therapists, you will provide tailored one-to-one and small group support, helping students access a bespoke academic and therapeutic curriculum whilst developing the skills they need for adulthood.

Psychology Graduate (Autism Teaching Assistant) | Job Summary:

• Initial 1-year contract commencing September or October 2026
• £500–£650 per week | £100–£130 per day | Paid weekly via PAYE
• Specialist autism provision based in Mitcham
• Supporting autistic students aged 9–16
• Small class sizes and high adult-to-student ratio
• Ideal for aspiring Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Teachers or Therapists

Psychology Graduate (Autism Teaching Assistant) | Job Description:

• Delivering engaging learning activities adapted to individual strengths and needs.
• Promoting confidence, resilience and practical life skills through a structured curriculum.
• Working collaboratively with teachers and on-site therapeutic professionals.
• Creating a calm, safe and supportive environment that celebrates neurodiversity.

This role would suit a compassionate, patient and resilient Psychology Graduate with a genuine interest in autism and child development. Previous experience supporting autistic young people or working within SEND settings would be advantageous.
