Second in Charge – English Teacher

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated teacher to take the next step in their career, supporting the Head of Department while continuing to teach and shape the learning experience for students.

We are looking for a 2IC – English Teacher who is passionate about empowering students, fostering confidence in reading and writing, and helping staff deliver high-quality, engaging lessons. You will play a key role in supporting curriculum development, mentoring colleagues, and maintaining the department’s standards of excellence.

The Role (Second in Charge, English Teacher)  | The successful candidate will:

• Support the Head of English in leading and managing the department
• Contribute to curriculum planning, teaching strategies, and assessment across Key Stages 3 and 4
• Monitor student progress and help implement interventions to raise achievement
• Mentor and support colleagues, fostering collaboration and sharing best practice
• Encourage students to engage with literature, language, and creative writing
• Help organise department events, enrichment activities, and cross-curricular projects
