School Librarian | Havering | September 2026

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced School Librarian to join a thriving mixed 11–16 secondary school, located in a leafy area of Havering. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated School Librarian to play a key role in promoting literacy and fostering a love of reading across the whole school.

As a School Librarian, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of a well-resourced and welcoming library space. The successful School Librarian will manage stock, oversee borrowing systems, and create an engaging environment that encourages students to read widely and often. This School Librarian role is central to supporting teaching and learning, working closely with staff and students to enhance literacy across the curriculum.

We are looking for a School Librarian with experience, who is organised, proactive, and passionate about making a real difference to young people. The school librarian will lead on literacy initiatives, support intervention programmes, and help students develop essential reading and research skills. As a School Librarian, you will engage with high-performing students who are eager to learn and respond positively to challenge.

Key details:

• Term-time only plus two additional weeks
• 36 hours per week - £30,000-£32,000 per annum              
• Well-resourced library with strong whole-school support
• Opportunity to lead literacy across the school
• Work with high-performing, motivated students
