A high-achieving secondary school with sixth form in Haringey is seeking an experienced and driven Maths Head of Department to lead their well-established Mathematics faculty from September 2026. The Role
As Maths Head of Department, you will take full responsibility for curriculum design, assessment strategy, and staff development across KS3, KS4, and KS5. You will drive GCSE and A-Level outcomes, line manage and develop colleagues, oversee departmental enrichment including UKMT and university preparation, and contribute actively to whole-school improvement as part of the middle leadership team.
What the School is Looking For
This permanent Maths HoD position will suit candidates who:
- Hold British QTS through a UK-accredited teacher training programme
- Graduated with a 2:1 or above in Mathematics from a reputable UK university, ideally Russell Group
- Can demonstrate a strong track record of secondary Maths teaching within UK schools with clear evidence of strong outcomes at KS4 and KS5
- Have proven middle leadership experience including curriculum development, staff management, and driving departmental improvement
- Are legally entitled to work in the UK - visa sponsorship is not available
Candidates without proven UK secondary Maths teaching experience and demonstrable leadership responsibility will not be considered.
Salary & Contract
Inner London MPS: £40,317 to £52,300, with UPS up to £62,496. A TLR1 is attached reflecting full head of department responsibility. Exact value confirmed on application.
