Start Date: September 2026 | Full‑Time | Long‑Term / Permanent Opportunity

Concise takeaway: A high‑performing Chelmsford secondary school is seeking a confident, proactive HLTA with strong classroom practice, excellent communication skills and proven experience supporting teaching and learning across KS3–KS4.

About the School (Chelmsford)

This Chelmsford secondary school is proud of its warm, respectful culture and its commitment to helping every student achieve their personal best. As a HLTA, you will benefit from:

  • Strong Pastoral & Wellbeing Support — A safe, calm and supportive environment where students and staff feel valued.

  • High Expectations & Clear Behaviour Systems — Consistent routines that allow a HLTA to deliver high‑quality learning without constant behaviour management.

  • Inclusive Values & Community Ethos — Respect, responsibility and resilience underpin the school culture, enabling a HLTA to make a genuine impact.

  • Broad Curriculum & Enrichment — A rich co‑curricular offer and strong community links create a vibrant, ambitious school community.

  • Professional Growth — Excellent CPD and progression routes, ideal for a HLTA looking to build a long‑term career in education or move towards teacher training.

The Role

As a HLTA, you will:

  • Lead high‑quality learning across KS3–KS4, delivering planned lessons when required

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small‑group intervention to raise attainment

  • Support teachers with planning, differentiation and resource adaptation

  • Build strong, positive relationships with students

  • Model excellent behaviour, engagement and classroom routines

  • Work closely with the SENCO, Heads of Department and wider support team

  • Contribute to the wider school community and uphold its values

This HLTA role requires someone who is confident, organised, proactive and able to adapt quickly to changing needs. Previous experience as a HLTA or in a similar advanced support role is essential.

The Ideal HLTA

The school is looking for a HLTA who is:

  • Versatile, flexible and adaptable in a fast‑paced secondary environment

  • An excellent communicator who builds trust with students and staff

  • Experienced in leading learning and supporting young people with a range of needs

  • Confident delivering lessons and interventions independently

  • Reflective, motivated and eager to develop professionally

  • A positive team player who contributes to school life
