Science Academic Mentor | Lewisham | September

Joining a well-established Science department, the successful Science Academic Mentor will support pupils across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, helping to raise attainment through targeted interventions, small-group tuition and in-class support. The school has invested heavily in STEM education, offering modern laboratory facilities, a broad curriculum and enrichment opportunities that encourage pupils to pursue Science beyond the classroom.
Full Academic Year | £500–£550 per week

Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils during Science lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Delivering small-group intervention sessions to raise attainment
- Working 1:1 with students requiring additional academic support
- Preparing practical resources alongside teaching staff where required
- Encouraging pupil confidence, curiosity and engagement within STEM subjects
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers
The successful Science Academic Mentor will:
- Hold A-Levels (or equivalent qualifications) and a BA degree in a Science-related subject
- Be academically strong with excellent communication skills
- Be enthusiastic about working with young people
- Have aspirations of becoming a Science Teacher
- Demonstrate initiative, professionalism and resilience
