Speech & Language Teaching Assistant | Waltham Forest | ASAP Start
£444–£513 per week via PAYE (inclusive of holiday pay) | Full-time | Term-time only | ASAP Start
A highly inclusive primary school in Waltham Forest is seeking a Speech & Language Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This long-term opportunity is ideal for graduates looking to gain practical experience supporting children with communication and language needs before progressing into Speech & Language Therapy, Educational Psychology, Teaching or wider SEND careers.
The school has a strong focus on early intervention and inclusive practice, with communication and language development embedded throughout the curriculum. Pupils benefit from targeted interventions, specialist SEND support and close collaboration with external professionals.
As a Speech & Language Teaching Assistant, you will have the valuable opportunity to work directly alongside qualified Speech and Language Therapists, gaining first-hand experience of intervention planning, communication strategies and approaches used to support children's language development.
Key responsibilities:
- Delivering targeted speech and language interventions on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Supporting pupils with communication needs during classroom lessons
- Working directly with qualified Speech and Language Therapists to implement recommended strategies
- Reinforcing individual therapy targets and helping pupils apply communication skills across the school day
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching, SEND and specialist staff
