A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Chelmsford is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Primary Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team on a temporary, full-time basis, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced LSA or someone with a strong background supporting children with complex additional needs.

About the School

The school has a small specialist provision supporting around four children full-time, alongside other pupils who access the base for shorter periods throughout the day. Two Early Years children also currently require significant support.

The provision includes a learning space, sensory room and outdoor area. The successful LSA will work alongside the existing LSA and SENDCO to support pupils' learning, development and wellbeing.

The Role – As a Primary LSA, you will:

  • Support children with complex additional needs on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
  • Assist with engaging and differentiated learning activities.
  • Promote communication, independence and emotional wellbeing.
  • Support pupils within the learning, sensory and outdoor areas.
  • Build positive relationships with children and staff.
  • Work closely with the SENDCO and wider school team.
  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

What the School is Looking For – The ideal Primary LSA will:

  • Have experience working with children in a primary, specialist or SEND setting.
  • Be nurturing, patient, caring and enthusiastic.
  • Have experience supporting children with additional needs.
  • Be confident adapting activities to meet individual needs.
  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Be proactive, flexible and committed to supporting children's development.
  • Be legally entitled to work in the UK – visa sponsorship is not available.
