The Role

As English Teacher 2i/c, you will combine outstanding classroom teaching with departmental leadership responsibilities. Working closely with the Head of English, you will help to support the continued development of teaching and learning across the department.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Teaching high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.

• Supporting the Head of English with the day-to-day leadership of the department.

• Helping to develop and implement an engaging and ambitious English curriculum.

• Supporting colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.

• Monitoring student progress and contributing to strategies that improve outcomes.

• Taking responsibility for specific areas of the department, as agreed with the Head of English.

• Supporting with assessment, planning and curriculum development.

• Helping to maintain a positive, collaborative and high-performing departmental culture.

The Ideal English Teacher 2i/c

The successful candidate will be an experienced and passionate English Teacher with strong subject knowledge and the ambition to develop their leadership skills.

You will ideally have:

• QTS and the ability to teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4.

• A strong track record of delivering excellent English teaching and positive student outcomes.

• Previous experience of contributing to departmental initiatives or taking on additional responsibilities.

• The confidence and ability to support and motivate colleagues.

• Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.

• A genuine passion for English and a commitment to raising student achievement.

• The ambition to progress into middle leadership and beyond.
