SEMH Teaching Assistant – Islington – Immediate Start

SEMH Teaching Assistant | Key Details

• £95-110 per day PAYE
• Full-time, term-time only
• Immediate start available
• Based in Islington
• Long-term role for the full academic year
• Excellent experience for aspiring teachers, therapists, SEN professionals, Youth Workers or Psychologists

SEMH Teaching Assistant | The Role

• Support pupils with SEMH needs, behaviour barriers and emotional regulation
• Work with pupils who may present as withdrawn, anxious, defiant, dysregulated or disengaged
• Provide 1:1, small-group and in-class support
• Help pupils follow routines, access learning and rebuild trust with adults
• Use calm, consistent boundaries rather than confrontation
• Support behaviour plans, pastoral interventions and classroom reintegration
• Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, pastoral staff and external professionals

SEMH Teaching Assistant | Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience with SEMH, behaviour, mentoring, youth work or SEN is strongly preferred
• Psychology, Criminology, Education or related graduates encouraged to apply
• Must be patient, emotionally mature and able to stay calm under pressure
• Confident setting boundaries and following school behaviour systems
• Able to build relationships without taking challenging behaviour personally
• Reliable, professional and able to commit for the full academic year
