Caretaker – Immediate Start

Are you an experienced Caretaker looking for a new opportunity within a welcoming primary school environment? We are seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join a supportive primary school in Harlow on a temporary basis, starting ASAP.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Caretaker who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming school environment and enjoys being a key part of the wider school community.

The Role – Caretaker

The successful Caretaker will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day maintenance, security and general upkeep of the school site.

The Caretaker will:

• Ensure the school premises are safe, secure, clean and well maintained.
• Carry out general maintenance, repairs and basic DIY where required.
• Complete routine health and safety, security and site checks.
• Assist with the preparation and upkeep of classrooms, communal areas and outdoor spaces.
• Report and respond to maintenance and site-related issues promptly.
• Support contractors and external professionals when required.
• Help ensure the school site is welcoming and well presented for pupils, staff and visitors.
• Respond appropriately to any site-related emergencies or urgent issues.

Who We Are Looking For

We are keen to hear from an experienced Caretaker, particularly someone with previous experience working as a Caretaker within a school setting. Experience in a similar premises, maintenance or facilities role will also be considered.

The ideal Caretaker will be:

• Reliable, dependable and proactive.
• Practical and confident carrying out general maintenance and basic repairs.
• Organised and able to work independently.
• Approachable and professional when working with pupils, staff, contractors and visitors.
• Committed to maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming school environment.

Previous experience working as a Caretaker in a school setting is desirable, although candidates with relevant premises, maintenance or facilities experience are also encouraged to apply.
