Pay: £444.00 per week (PAYE)

Are you a high‑achieving graduate seeking classroom-based experience and considering a step into teaching?

A thriving all‑through school in Hounslow is recruiting an Academic Mentor to support learning in a subject you excelled at academically (A‑Levels, GCSEs) and hold a university degree in—or have tutoring experience. Ideal for graduates aiming to explore teaching or educational support roles, this teaching assistant position offers first‑hand exposure to classroom practice.

Working closely with class teachers and the school’s special educational needs coordinator (SENCo), you will assist in subject-specific lessons, deliver targeted academic support, and help pupils deepen their understanding. This role is perfect for graduates in, for example, English, Maths, Science, or Humanities with top grades and a passion for helping pupils succeed.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils in your specialist subject across KS2–KS4
  • Delivering 1:1 and small‑group sessions to reinforce classroom learning
  • Adapting resources to meet diverse learning needs
  • Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to teachers

We’re looking for:

  • A2:1 or above at university in your specialist subject
  • A‑Level (or equivalent) at A*–B in the same subject
  • GCSE grades 9–7 in relevant subjects
  • Proven tutoring or classroom support experience
  • Excellent communication, patience and enthusiasm
  • Availability for the full 2025/26 academic year

This Academic Mentor role is a superb opportunity to gain real classroom experience and to build your CV ahead of future teacher training or similar educational roles.
