Are you a high-achieving Psychology graduate looking to gain valuable experience in a school environment? We are recruiting for an Autism Support Assistant to join a well-regarded boys’ secondary school in Barnet, supporting students aged 11–16 with additional needs and targeted interventions.

As an Autism Support Assistant, you will work closely with students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, focusing on those with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), as well as associated needs such as ADHD and anxiety. You’ll be part of a dynamic support team, contributing to both the academic and emotional development of students through one-to-one and small group work.

Autism Support Assistant - In this role, you will:

  • Support students with Autism in mainstream lessons, working alongside classroom teachers
  • Deliver targeted interventions that promote emotional regulation and social communication
  • Work in partnership with the SEND department to track and support student progress
  • Help pupils build independence, confidence, and effective learning routines

This role is particularly suited to aspiring educational or clinical psychologists, teachers, or anyone interested in mental health, SEN support, or youth work. You will receive guidance from an experienced SENDCo and collaborate with a committed team of graduate assistants—many of whom move on to further study or training programmes.

Autism Support Assistant - We are looking for:

  • A First-Class or 2:1 degree in Psychology (or a related subject)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A genuine passion for working with neurodiverse young people
  • Availability to commit to the full academic year from September 2025

Becoming an Autism Support Assistant is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with Autism. If you are compassionate, resilient, and eager to apply your Psychology knowledge in a real-world setting, this role could be ideal for you.

Apply now to secure your Autism Support Assistant placement for the 2025–2026 academic year.
