As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll provide consistent, empathetic support, helping the student re-engage with learning and build confidence in a calm, structured setting.

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 emotional and academic support to a Year 11 pupil with SEMH needs
Assist with engagement, confidence, and re-establishing attendance routines
Support progress in Maths and English up to GCSE level
Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, and self-esteem
Build trusting relationships with parents and external agencies
Monitor and report on wellbeing, engagement, and academic progress

Requirements for this 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant role:

A 1:1 or 2:1 degree from a top 20 UK university
Experience supporting young people with SEMH or mental health needs
Training in behaviour or mental health support (or willingness to complete)
Empathy, patience, and emotional resilience
Confidence supporting GCSE Maths and English
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Ideal for aspiring therapists or child psychologists
