SENCo (English / Media Specialist) – Hillingdon – September 2026

We are recruiting an exceptional SENCo to join a distinctive and forward-thinking specialist secondary setting in Hillingdon, starting September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified SENCo who has a background in English or Media, either as a trained subject specialist or an experienced teacher with SEND expertise.

The Role – SENCo

As SENCo, you will lead SEND provision across the school and ensure exceptional outcomes for students with additional needs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and overseeing SEND strategy and provision across the academy

  • Managing EHCP processes, annual reviews and personalised support plans

  • Supporting staff to embed strong inclusive teaching practices across the curriculum

  • Working with external professionals to coordinate interventions and specialist support

  • Championing high expectations and ensuring students progress to ambitious destinations

  • Using data and pastoral insight to remove barriers and track individual progress

  • Building trusted relationships with families through clear communication and guidance

This SENCo role is ideal for someone passionate about inclusion and ready to help build a thriving SEND culture in Hillingdon.

We’re looking for a SENCo who…

  • Is a qualified teacher with the National SENCo Award (or willing to complete it)

  • Originally trained as an English Teacher or Media Teacher, OR has strong classroom experience in either subject

  • Has proven experience supporting students with SEND and leading inclusive practice

  • Has excellent knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice

  • Can lead staff confidently and contribute to whole-school improvement

  • Brings warmth, organisation, resilience and ambition to the role
