The Role – English Teacher

As an English Teacher, you will:

• Deliver a rigorous and well-sequenced English curriculum across KS3 and KS4
• Teach a range of literature, poetry and non-fiction texts while developing strong analytical and writing skills
• Foster a love of reading and confident written and verbal communication
• Use assessment effectively to identify misconceptions and address gaps in learning
• Adapt teaching to support pupils with SEND and those new to English
• Maintain high standards of behaviour and academic engagement
• Contribute to curriculum development within the English department

The Ideal English Teacher Will Have:

• QTS and a strong academic background in English Literature, English Language or a related subject
• Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4
• High expectations for achievement and behaviour
• Confidence using assessment to inform planning, with familiarity with exam boards such as AQA and Edexcel
• Commitment to inclusion and equal access for all pupils
• Clear communication and strong classroom presence
