Job Description
Science Teacher – Haringey – September 2026
A high-achieving secondary school with sixth form in Haringey is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Science Teacher to join their well-regarded Science faculty from September 2026. This is a contractual Science Teacher role on a term-time basis within a school rated Outstanding by Ofsted, known for its ambitious scientific curriculum, strong examination outcomes, and genuine commitment to developing exceptional classroom practitioners.
About the School
This Haringey secondary school and sixth form delivers a rigorous, well-sequenced Science curriculum across KS3, KS4, and KS5, with consistently strong GCSE and A-Level outcomes and a sixth form cohort that regularly progresses to Science, Medicine, and Engineering at competitive universities. Teaching is evidence-informed and subject-specialist, with collaborative planning and peer development embedded into departmental culture. Behaviour is underpinned by clear, consistent whole-school expectations that give every Science Teacher the focused environment needed to teach with authority and ambition. Enrichment including STEM clubs, science olympiad preparation, and university outreach reflects the department's broader vision for its pupils.
What the School Offers
- A well-resourced Science faculty with dedicated technician support across all three disciplines
- Sixth form teaching opportunities from September with scope to develop A-Level specialism over time
- Structured CPD with access to subject association networks and research-informed development
- A collaborative department with shared planning and a genuinely manageable assessment workload
- Clear progression pathways into middle leadership for strong and ambitious practitioners
The Role
As a Science Teacher, you will deliver well-structured, knowledge-rich lessons across KS3 and KS4, using assessment data to track progress and stretch pupils beyond the specification. You will contribute to departmental planning, support sixth form provision, and build strong, purposeful relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues throughout the year.
What the School is Looking For
This Science Teacher position will suit candidates who:
- Hold British QTS or are completing a UK-accredited teacher training programme
- Graduated with a 2:1 or above in a Science discipline from a reputable UK university, ideally Russell Group
- Have meaningful classroom experience within a UK secondary school through placements or a substantive post
- Show clear evidence of structured lesson delivery and measurable pupil progress
- Are legally entitled to work in the UK - visa sponsorship is not available
ECT applicants are welcomed provided formal UK teacher training has been completed.
