SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary School in Braintree

Start Date: September 2026 | Full-Time | Long-Term / Permanent Opportunity

Are you a versatile, flexible and adaptable SEND Teaching Assistant with excellent communication skills, ready to support pupils with additional needs? Ribbons & Reeves are partnering with a warm, inclusive Secondary School in Braintree seeking a committed SEND TA to join their nurturing, student‑centred support team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a SEND TA who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to contribute to a school known for its strong pastoral care, high expectations and community‑driven ethos. Previous SEND experience is essential for this role.

About the School (Braintree)

This Braintree Secondary School is proud of its caring, respectful culture and its commitment to helping every student achieve their personal best. As a SEND TA, you will benefit from:

  • Strong Pastoral & Wellbeing Support — A calm, safe and supportive environment where students and staff feel valued.

  • Clear Routines & Consistent Behaviour Systems — Structures that allow a SEND TA to focus on meaningful support rather than behaviour management.

  • Inclusive Values & Community Ethos — Kindness, resilience and responsibility underpin the school culture, enabling a SEND TA to make a genuine impact.

  • Broad Curriculum & Enrichment — A rich, ambitious curriculum and strong community links create a vibrant, forward‑thinking school environment.

  • Professional Growth — Staff are encouraged to develop, reflect and progress, making this an ideal setting for a SEND TA looking to build a long‑term career in education.

The Role

As a SEND TA, you will:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small‑group support to students with SEND

  • Adapt resources and scaffold learning to ensure accessibility

  • Work closely with the SENCO, class teachers and wider support team

  • Build strong, positive relationships with students

  • Support behaviour, engagement and confidence in the classroom

  • Contribute to the wider school community and uphold its values

This SEND TA role requires someone calm, patient, proactive and able to adapt quickly to changing needs. Previous SEND TA experience or similar support capacity is essential.

The Ideal SEND TA

The school is looking for a SEND TA who is:

  • Versatile, flexible and adaptable in a fast‑paced secondary environment

  • An excellent communicator who builds trust with students and staff

  • Experienced in supporting young people with SEND

  • Reflective, motivated and eager to develop professionally

  • A team player who contributes positively to school life
