SEND Teaching Assistant | Chelmsford | September 2026

 

Are you a recent graduate looking to gain hands-on school experience before pursuing a career in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy or child psychology?

We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate and resilient graduate to join a welcoming primary school in Chelmsford as a SEND Teaching Assistant from September, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including autism, ADHD and SEMH.

 

About this SEND Teaching Assistant role…
• Gain valuable school-based experience supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs.
• Provide 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils access learning and develop their confidence and independence.
• Work closely with experienced teachers, SENDCOs and external professionals.
• Develop practical experience in behaviour support, communication strategies and personalised learning.
• Excellent opportunity for graduates considering careers in education, psychology, therapy or social care.

 

We are looking for graduates who…
• Have experience working with children or young people through tutoring, mentoring, youth work, coaching, care or voluntary work.
• Are patient, proactive and passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
• Have strong communication skills and the resilience to manage challenging situations.
• Want to build long-term experience within a primary school environment.
• Can commit full-time from September and are available to trial immediately.
