Location: Tower Hamlets
Contract: September 2026 – July 2027 (Full Academic Year)
Hours: 8:30am–4:15pm, with a 45-minute lunch break
Pay: £152.92 per day, including holiday pay

An Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ secondary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join its Science department from September 2026.

As a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be predominantly supporting KS5 students, with some support across KS4. You will use your strong subject knowledge to provide academic support, deliver targeted interventions and mentor students working towards their GCSE and A-level Science qualifications.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing in-class support predominantly across KS5 Science, with some KS4 support
  • Supporting students working towards A-level Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics
  • Delivering 1:1 and small-group Science tuition and academic mentoring
  • Providing targeted interventions based on individual student needs
  • Using your strong subject knowledge to help students develop their understanding of Science
  • Supporting students preparing for GCSE and A-level examinations
  • Assisting with lesson resources, planning and marking where required
  • Supporting students with SEND and EAL backgrounds

We’re looking for:

  • A 2:1 or First-Class degree in a Science subject or related field
  • Strong and up-to-date subject knowledge of A-level Science – essential
  • A strong understanding of at least one of Biology, Chemistry or Physics
  • The ability to confidently support students at KS5
  • A genuine interest in education and helping students achieve their academic potential
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
  • Commitment to the full academic year from September 2026 to July 2027
