Behaviour Mentor | Bishop’s Stortford
Are you a graduate with a passion for supporting young people with behavioural needs and helping them overcome barriers to learning?
A welcoming and supportive school in Bishop’s Stortford is seeking to appoint a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate with a 1st-class or 2:1 degree and experience working with children or young people who is passionate about making a meaningful difference to pupils’ wellbeing, behaviour and educational development.
The successful Behaviour Mentor will play a key role in supporting pupils who may experience challenging behaviour, emotional difficulties, low confidence or difficulties engaging with education. Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider school team, you will provide targeted support to help pupils develop positive behaviours, improve their engagement and build stronger relationships within the school environment.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils to understand and manage their emotions, develop coping strategies and make positive choices. You will build trusting relationships with pupils and act as a consistent and positive role model, encouraging them to recognise their strengths and achieve their potential.
Key Requirements:
- 1st-class or 2:1 degree in any subject
- Previous experience working with children or young people
- Experience supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional or social needs
- A patient, calm and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Confident managing challenging behaviour in a professional manner
- Proactive and adaptable approach to supporting individual pupils
- Passion for supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider pastoral and teaching team
