Salary: £59,573–£63,814 (0.6 contract)

Start Date: November 2026

Contract: Maternity Cover – 3 Days per Week

About the Role

• The school is looking for an Interim Assistant Headteacher to join its Senior Leadership Team (SLT) three days per week, covering a maternity leave from after October half-term.
• This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys getting beneath the surface, spotting patterns and finding practical solutions to challenges affecting pupils and their learning.
• You'll use your analytical skills to identify trends in behaviour and attendance, understand where support is needed and help put effective strategies in place. Working alongside the existing leadership team, you'll monitor progress, evaluate interventions and help drive improvements across the school.
• If you're a strategic thinker who enjoys solving problems, challenging assumptions and seeing the impact of your work, this role offers the chance to make a genuine difference.

What You Need

• Senior Leadership Experience: Previous experience at SLT level in a primary school, with the confidence to influence whole-school improvement.
• A Sharp Analytical Mind: The ability to interpret behaviour and attendance data, spot trends and identify the issues behind the numbers.
• A Solutions-Focused Approach: Confidence turning your findings into practical strategies that deliver measurable improvements.
• Strong Leadership Skills: The ability to work collaboratively with staff, challenge constructively and build positive relationships with pupils and families.
• A Proactive Mindset: Someone who can quickly identify priorities, work independently and make a real impact within a three-day working week.
