A highly-regarded secondary school in West London is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Science Graduate to join the team as an Academic Support Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 within the Science Department, gaining invaluable experience in a structured and supportive school environment.
Working closely with subject teachers, the Head of Department, and pastoral staff, you will assist in delivering tailored academic interventions, including 1:1 and small group sessions designed to raise attainment, deepen scientific understanding, and build confidence in core topics.
This role is ideally suited to a Science Graduate who is planning to begin a PGCE or other teacher training programme in 2025.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide academic support to students across KS3 and KS4 in Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics

Deliver focused 1:1 and small group tuition sessions to reinforce scientific knowledge and exam readiness

Work collaboratively with teaching staff to identify learning gaps and adapt support accordingly

Assist with lesson preparation, resources, and progress monitoring

Contribute to a positive and aspirational learning environment
Candidate Profile:

A recent Science graduate (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) from a leading university

Passionate about education and eager to pursue a career in teaching

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly

Reliable, proactive, and able to work as part of a collaborative team

Prior experience supporting young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is advantageous
