Are you a Science graduate from a top UK university, eager to gain real-world experience in a secondary school setting? We’re looking for a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a supportive boys’ secondary school in Barnet, helping students aged 14–18 achieve academic success in Science while supporting those with additional learning needs.

As a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant, you’ll provide both general SEN support and targeted academic intervention across the school’s Science curriculum – including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. You’ll work with students who require additional guidance in accessing the content, building their confidence through 1:1 and small group sessions.

Your responsibilities as a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant will include:

  • Supporting Science lessons in-class and providing tailored clarification
  • Delivering structured Science interventions outside the classroom
  • Helping students with SEND (e.g. Autism, ADHD, and working memory difficulties) navigate the curriculum
  • Working closely with the SENDCo and Science department to ensure progress

This Science Graduate Teaching Assistant role is ideal for those considering a career in teaching, psychology, or youth mental health. You’ll receive mentoring and CPD from experienced staff and join a team of graduate assistants with similar academic backgrounds.

We’re looking for:

  • A First-Class or high 2:1 degree in a Science-related subject
  • Strong academic background and enthusiasm for Science
  • Patience, empathy, and a desire to support learners with diverse needs
  • Availability for the full academic year (September 2025 – July 2026)

Being a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills, gain insight into secondary education, and make a tangible difference to students who benefit from additional academic and emotional support.

Apply today to become a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant and take the first step toward a rewarding career in education or psychology.
