A welcoming primary school in Bromley, South London is seeking a Mental Health Support Assistant to join their team from January.

 

Mental Health Support Assistant | About the Role

  • Full-time, long-term position running until July 2026.
  • Working closely with pupils who require additional emotional, behavioural and learning support.
  • Gaining practical experience for those considering careers in education, psychology or SEND support.
  • Regular training and professional development built into the role.

 

Mental Health Support Assistant | Responsibilities

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND, including SEMH needs.
  • Helping children regulate emotions and engage positively with learning.
  • Supporting classroom activities and adapting tasks to meet individual needs.
  • Working alongside class teachers and the SENDCo to support lesson delivery.
  • Contributing to a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

 

Mental Health Support Assistant | Person Specification

  • A 2:1 degree from a top 20 UK university.
  • A clear interest in working with children with additional needs.
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or similar needs is essential.
  • A patient, empathetic and reliable approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
