Mental Health Support Assistant - Islington - September 2026

A warm, inclusive primary school near Euston is seeking a Mental Health Support Assistant for September 2026.   • Mental Health Support Assistant role paying £90-110 per day PAYE.

  • Full-time, term-time only contract from September 2026.

  • Excellent experience for a Psychology, Criminology, Counselling, Education or Mental Health graduate.

  • Work in an inclusive primary school with around 450 children, including a specialist autism centre.

  • The school was judged Good by Ofsted in 2024, with Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management, and Early Years all graded Outstanding.

  • Gain direct experience supporting pupils with SEMH, autism, speech and language needs, anxiety, emotional regulation and social communication.

  • The school has a strong reputation for SEND provision, with specialist support for pupils with EHCPs through its autism resource base.

  • As a Mental Health Support Assistant, you will provide 1:1 and small-group support across the school day.

  • The successful Mental Health Support Assistant will help pupils develop confidence, resilience, emotional awareness and positive learning behaviours.

  • Mental Health Support Assistant candidates must be calm, patient, emotionally intelligent and committed to safeguarding.

  • You will work closely with the SENCO, class teachers, pastoral staff, families and external professionals.

  • Previous experience with children, SEND, mentoring, tutoring, youth work, care or mental health support is highly desirable.
