Are you interested in understanding why young people behave the way they do and want to build a career in Psychology, Education, Youth Work or Behaviour Support? This Behaviour Mentor opportunity in a Southwark secondary school offers the chance to work directly with pupils who require additional support with behaviour, engagement and emotional wellbeing.

This isn't a role focused solely on removing pupils from lessons. As a Behaviour Mentor, you'll work proactively with students to understand the barriers affecting their education and help them develop practical strategies for managing conflict, frustration and difficult situations.

You'll work closely with the school's pastoral and safeguarding teams, gaining valuable experience of behaviour systems while developing the relationship-building skills required to work effectively with young people.

Full Academic Year | £500–£550 per week

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing targeted 1:1 mentoring
• Supporting pupils before and after challenging incidents
• Using restorative conversations to help pupils reflect on behaviour
• Developing positive relationships with students who may distrust authority
• Supporting classroom re-engagement and attendance
• Working with Heads of Year and pastoral leaders to identify emerging concerns
• Encouraging pupils to develop practical strategies for managing behaviour and conflict

The successful Behaviour Mentor will:

• Hold A-Levels or equivalent qualifications
• Have a BA/BSc degree or relevant experience working with young people
• Be confident and composed when dealing with challenging situations
• Have excellent interpersonal skills
• Be consistent and fair in their approach
• Have a genuine interest in behaviour, wellbeing and youth development
