Secondary Teaching Assistant | Hackney | ASAP Start

Are you looking to gain valuable classroom experience within a high-performing secondary school? A supportive and ambitious school in Hackney is seeking a Secondary Teaching Assistant to join on a full-time basis, with an ASAP start through to July 2027.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with KS3 and KS4 pupils, delivering 1:1 support and targeted interventions in Maths and Science.

Secondary Teaching Assistant – What the School Offers

• Full academic year placement through to July 2027
• 33.5 working hours per week, including half-days on Fridays
• Weekly pay of £515.52 via PAYE (inclusive of holiday pay)

Key Responsibilities

• Delivering 1:1 support to KS3 and KS4 pupils in Maths and Science
• Leading targeted small-group interventions to improve pupil progress
• Supporting pupils with SEND in mainstream classrooms
• Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom organisation
• Building positive relationships and promoting pupil confidence and engagement

The Ideal Candidate

• Has a strong degree and strong A-Levels; a 2:1 or above from a leading UK university is preferred
• Has excellent subject knowledge in Maths and Science – essential
• Has experience working with children or young people, formally or informally
• Is proactive, flexible and committed to supporting young people
• Has excellent communication skills and a positive attitude
