The successful SEND LSA will play a key role in supporting pupils with complex learning needs, communication difficulties, autism and emotional or behavioural needs. As a SEND LSA, you will work closely with class teachers and the wider SEND team to provide tailored support, helping pupils access learning, develop their independence and build positive relationships within the school environment.
This SEND LSA position offers a rewarding and varied role, with opportunities to provide 1:1 and small-group support, contribute to individual support plans, and help pupils develop their confidence and ability to engage with education.
The school is seeking a SEND LSA who has at least one year of experience working with children or young people with SEND, ideally within a school or specialist setting. The successful applicant must hold a 1st-class or 2:1 degree in a relevant subject. A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach is essential, alongside the ability to build strong relationships with pupils and work effectively as part of a wider team.
Key Requirements:
- 1st-class or 2:1 degree in a relevant subject
- At least one year of experience working with children or young people with SEND
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, LSA or in a similar support role
- Understanding of supporting pupils with autism, communication needs, sensory needs and/or challenging behaviour
- Patient, empathetic and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Proactive and adaptable approach to supporting learning
- Passion for supporting children with additional needs to achieve their potential
