A progressive and proactive SEN provision attached to a mainstream school in Barnet is looking for an engaging and patient Autism Support Assistant to provide support for primary-age children diagnosed with Autism. The provision caters to children with a range of communication abilities, and emotional competencies and who are unable to handle mainstream education. Autism Support Assistant | About the role:

  • Provide the best standard of care for children with a diagnosis of Autism.
  • Communicate with non-verbal and verbal students.
  • Use past experiences and knowledge to assist the students.
  • Listen and work under the teaching staff, and complete tasks they give you.
  • Working with the SENCo and the SEN team to provide support and care for the children, creating an environment for them to flourish.
  • Become a friendly and reliable face for students throughout the school.

Autism Support Assistant | About you:

  • A First-Class degree in Psychology, Education or a related field from a Top 20 UK University.
  • Experience working with people with Special Educational Needs.
  • Understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Resilience, fantastic interpersonal skills and a calm temperament.
  • Aspirations to have a career in education or become a psychologist.
