Learning Support Assistant | Redbridge | September Start

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

• Work 1:1 or in small groups with pupils who have severe or profound learning difficulties

• Support pupils’ personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, and administering medication (training provided)

• Facilitate pupil learning in-class and during off-site activities including swimming, horse riding, and cycling

• Assist with communication strategies such as Makaton, PECS, and symbol use

• Monitor and record pupil progress using platforms like Toe by Toe, Step by Step, and Connecting Steps

• Promote inclusion and encourage independence among all pupils

• Support pupils’ emotional and behavioural needs, following behaviour management plans

To thrive as a Learning Support Assistant in Redbridge, you must:

• Hold a 1:1 degree from a top 20 UK university

• Have experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or autism

• Be familiar with behaviour management strategies and safeguarding procedures

• Possess excellent communication skills and a flexible, proactive attitude

• Be committed to providing exceptional care and educational support
